How to find the IP address of a website

The tool queries the domain's A and AAAA records and lists every IPv4 and IPv6 address, not just the first one. For each IP you get the TTL, reverse DNS (PTR), the autonomous system number and its owner, the country and a CDN/proxy flag: if the site is behind Cloudflare, you see the proxy address, not the server.

FAQ

Type the domain into the field and press the button: the tool queries the A and AAAA records and lists every IPv4 and IPv6 address with its TTL. Without a website, nslookup example.com on Windows or dig example.com +short on macOS and Linux does the same.

It is not a mistake: it comes from load balancing, backup servers or a CDN. A browser picks any of the addresses, so it helps to see all records rather than just the first. A site can also have separate IPv4 (A) and IPv6 (AAAA) addresses.

Not always. If the site is behind Cloudflare, Fastly or another CDN, DNS publishes the address of the proxy or edge node and the real server is hidden on purpose. The CDN/proxy flag in the table warns about exactly that. The site owner knows the real IP — it is in the hosting panel.

TTL is the time in seconds that resolvers and caches may remember a record. People lower it before a migration so the new IP spreads faster. If you just changed the address and some users still see the old one, wait for the TTL to run out.

If you already have an IP address, the tool points you to Reverse IP Lookup, which lists the sites hosted on that address. For the network owner and provider use ASN Lookup, and for where the address is located use IP geolocation.

For sites with geo-DNS, load balancing or anycast the answer depends on where and through which resolver the question is asked. Our query runs from one server, so the result at your home computer may differ, especially for large sites and CDNs.
