FAQ

Type the site address into the box and press Check. The tool finds icons in link tags, tests /favicon.ico and reads the web manifest, then shows each icon with its size, type and a file link. No sign-up is needed, and the limit is 30 checks a minute.

If the list of icons is not empty after the check, the site has one. If it is empty you get “Favicon not found”: the HTML has no suitable link tags and /favicon.ico did not answer 200. By hand you can open yoursite.com/favicon.ico in a browser.

Link tags with rel icon, shortcut icon or apple-touch-icon (and similar), the /favicon.ico file when it responds, and icons listed in the web manifest. Each entry shows its rel value, sizes, type and a download link.

The test only shows what the page declares. Search engines refresh the icon at their own pace — Google says it can take from a few days to several weeks — and apply their own rules to size and format. The guide below covers this in detail.

Google says the icon must be square (1:1), at least 8×8 pixels and ideally larger than 48×48. iOS normally wants a 180×180 Apple Touch Icon, and Android a manifest with 192×192 and 512×512. The tool shows the declared sizes but does not measure the real file.

No. Our server downloads the page, and SSRF protection blocks internal, local and private addresses. The site has to be reachable from the internet over http or https.
