Check a website's SSL certificate the way a browser validates it: expiry date and days left, the domains it covers (SAN), issuer, key type and size, signature algorithm and the chain the server sends. If the certificate has expired, was issued for another name or the server omits the intermediate certificate, the check returns a connection error.

Enter a domain such as example.com and click Check. The tool connects over HTTPS and shows the expiry date, issuer, domains in the certificate, key and chain. No sign-up is needed; the limit is 30 checks per minute.

The end date and the days remaining are shown at the top of the report. With under 30 days left the banner turns yellow, and for an expired certificate it turns red.

Usually the date is not the cause: the domain is missing from the SAN list, the server does not send the intermediate certificate, or the certificate is self-signed. The Problems block in the report names the actual reason.

No. We read the certificate itself: dates, names, issuer, key and chain. For TLS versions, ciphers and a configuration grade you need a separate scanner such as Qualys SSL Labs.

No. *.example.com covers www.example.com and other first-level subdomains but not example.com itself, which is why both names are usually listed in the certificate.

Yes, put the port in the address, for example example.com:8443. Port 443 is used by default. Closed and internal addresses are not reachable.
