What a rank tracker is
A rank tracker searches Google for your keywords on a schedule and records where your site appears. One check is a snapshot; a series is a trend: is the page growing after edits and links, did it drop after a Google update, which queries are close to the top 10. Rankings depend on country, language and device, so each combination is checked separately.
Tracker position vs Search Console
Search Console reports an average position over a period across all impressions: different countries, devices and personalization. A tracker records a specific results page at a specific moment. Use both: GSC to find the queries your site already appears for, the tracker to see exactly how they move after your changes.

Is there a free rank tracker plan?
One-off position checks are free with no sign-up: 3 fresh checks a day as a guest, 10 with an account. Ongoing tracking is paid but has no subscription: $0.01 per check of one keyword in one region on one device (down to the top 30). New users get 50 checks free.
How much does tracking 100 keywords cost?
100 keywords × 1 country × 1 device down to the top 30: daily is about $30 a month, weekly about $4.29. Each country × device combination is a separate check; tracking down to the top 100 costs up to $0.04 per check. The dashboard shows the project total before you start.
Can I track rankings by city?
No. The tracker works at country level (10 countries) plus a “global, no region” mode. We do not track city-level local results or Google Maps.
Where do the rankings come from?
From live Google results: every check requests the results page for the chosen country, language and device through the Bright Data SERP API. The average position in Search Console is a different metric that averages impressions over a period, so the numbers can differ.
Do I need to connect Search Console?
No, you can paste keywords as a list. With Search Console the tracker imports the queries your site already appears for, adds impressions and clicks, and builds a missed-traffic view: how many clicks keywords would bring if they reached your goal.
How is it different from the free rank checker?
The free checker is one keyword, once, down to the top 30, with no history. The tracker keeps a project: hundreds of keywords, several countries and devices, depth down to the top 100, history and charts, a check schedule, reports and drop alerts.
What does Rank Tracker not do?
It has no keyword or backlink database for competitors, no city-level local results, no Bing or Yandex, and competitor analysis in the results is still in development. If you need those, look at Ahrefs, Semrush, SE Ranking or Serpstat; for keyword research we have Keyword Studio.
