What is PBN? How Cascade Differs from a Network of Sites

Straight answers 2 min read Updated 12.09.2026
PBN is a network of domains owned by a contractor. We do not own any site from the pool: these are public services with their own audience. We analyze the differences and the downside of such an approach.

PBN (private blog network) is a network of sites owned by the optimizer: usually domains with a history, purchased at auctions, with restored content and links to client projects. The PromoPilot cascade is structured differently, and the difference is fundamental — we do not own any site from the pool.

Why This Matters for Risk

The main vulnerability of PBN is the common footprint: the same owners, hosting, templates, interlinking scheme. When the network is detected, all links are devalued at once for all its clients. Public sites do not have such connectivity: ameblo.jp or strikingly exist independently of us, their audience and content are 99.9% unrelated to our publications.

The downside is honest: since the site is not ours, we do not control its policy. It can delete a publication, close registration, or introduce nofollow. How we live with this is discussed in the articles “The publication was deleted by the site” and “Do links pass weight”.

Second and Third Level — This is Not a Network Either

The cascade builds not a network of sites, but a chain of publications: the second level refers to articles of the first, not to your site. The point is to strengthen the publications themselves, not to drive maximum direct links to the target page. An analysis of the structure is in the article “Levels of the Cascade”.

Where We Are Really Similar to PBN
In one way: in both cases, links are placed for ranking purposes. We do not deny this — see “Is this link spam?”. The difference is that the risk is not concentrated in one network with a common owner.

If You Need a PBN

We do not build or sell it. If the task is a controlled network for one project, that is a different tool with a different economy: domains, hosting, content plan, and ongoing expenses for maintenance. Our product is about volume and speed on public platforms with measured quality.

FAQ

Do you own the sites where you publish?
No. These are public blogging platforms and publication services with their own audience; we only own the accounts from which we post materials.
How is this better than PBN?
Risk is not concentrated: if one site has problems, the others are not connected to it by owner, hosting, or template.
What are the downsides?
We do not control the site's policy: it can delete a publication or close registration — and such cases are honestly visible in the report.
