The Power of the Link Profile: How the Platform Calculates It
“The power of the link profile” is the platform's internal aggregate score for one of your pages. It answers the question of how much useful link mass has already been built for it with one number instead of three separate counters: how many publications have been made, how many of them have been verified, and how many have been indexed.
What the Number Consists Of
Each successful publication contributes its part, and the page's power is the sum of these contributions. The contribution is calculated as the product of three multipliers.

| Site Authority | Adjustment based on the domain's DR where the publication was made (Domain Rating by Ahrefs). A strong donor gives more, a weak one gives less. |
We do not publish the exact coefficients: they are adjustable and change over time. The principle is important — a dozen verified and indexed publications on strong sites provide more “power” than a hundred links that no one has seen.
How This Differs from the Link Counter
Nearby in the interface, there are separate counters for “Links” and “In the Index,” and they grow differently. The number of links increases at the moment of publication, while the power is added in stages: first for the fact of publication, then for verification, and then for indexing. Therefore, it continues to grow for several weeks after the cascade has formally completed.
The calculation is based on the current state of publications, so the number can also decrease — for example, if the site deleted the page and a re-verification removed the “verified” mark.
Where It Can Be Found
- Project Header and Dashboard Line — the “Power” chip with growth over the period.
- Pulse Badge on the Link — if this metric has grown the most during the period, the badge will say “Profile Power.”
- Pulse Window — a graph by days next to clicks, impressions, and position. See what “Pulse” is.
The history is built retrospectively based on the dates of publication, verification, and indexing, so the graph is filled even for the time when the metrics did not yet exist.
How to Increase It
- Do not disable the first level — it provides the main contribution. About levels: cascade levels.
- Wait for link verification: until then, the publication is counted partially. Statuses are explained in the article report and statuses.
- Assist with indexing — this is the most significant stage: indexing publications.
- Return to pages where the “Pulse” shows the hint “Pin”: the effect of the last launch is already fading there.
