New tool: Image Watermark Detector — find out if a photo was made by AI
PromoPilot launches a free Image Watermark Detector: spot C2PA, XMP, EXIF, AI generator signatures, and LSB steganography right in your browser, with no upload kept.
Meet the Image Watermark Detector
We've added a new tool to the free PromoPilot™ toolkit — the Image Watermark Detector. It reveals what's actually hidden inside a picture: whether it was generated by AI, edited, or carries hidden provenance markers. The tool runs right in your browser, free and with no signup, and the file you check is not kept on the server.
🔍 What the tool checks
The detector parses the image container, reads every available layer of metadata and signatures, and turns it into a clear report.
- C2PA / Content Credentials — the provenance standard from Adobe and the CAI, plus JUMBF and XMP markers.
- XMP and EXIF — camera data, editing software, and file history.
- AI generator signatures — traces of Midjourney, DALL·E, Adobe Firefly, Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, and other systems.
- LSB steganography — statistical anomalies that point to data hidden in the pixels.
🖼️ Supported formats
The detector works with PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and TIFF. For PNG, JPEG, and WebP there's an optional metadata cleanup: we rebuild the file without removable provenance and metadata, then hand you a clean copy.
👥 Who it's for
- Journalists and fact-checkers — quickly verify whether a photo was AI-generated.
- Designers and photographers — see which signatures and metadata travel with an image.
- Anyone who publishes content — confirm the transparency and origin of the visuals they share.
