Key Collector alternative online: keyword research in the browser without Windows, proxies or captchas
There is no online version of Key Collector: it is a Windows program with a perpetual licence for 2,200 RUB. We compare it with cloud-based Keyword Studio: free Google Keyword Planner volumes without your own Ads account, collection without proxies or captchas, and it works on a Mac. We also say plainly when you shouldn't switch from Key Collector: Yandex, Wordstat and manual work on a huge keyword list.
There is no Key Collector online: it is a Windows program sold as a perpetual licence for 2,200 RUB. A Key Collector alternative that runs online makes sense if you work with Google rather than Yandex, use a Mac, or are tired of keeping data collection running. Key Collector is a keyword research program that has been popular in Russian-speaking SEO since 2010. In this article we compare it honestly with PromoPilot's cloud-based Keyword Studio: what each one does, where the cloud is genuinely more convenient, and where Key Collector remains stronger and there is no reason to switch. Key Collector's terms were checked against the official website in October 2026.
Short answer: which one to choose
If your keyword list is built for Yandex and you need Wordstat volumes, stay with Key Collector: Keyword Studio does not work with Yandex at all. If you rank sites in Google (Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Poland, Europe, the US) and want to do keyword research in the browser without proxies, accounts or parser setup, the cloud service covers most of the job. Here are the essentials in one table.
| Keyword Studio (PromoPilot) | Key Collector 4 | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | In the browser, on our server; Windows, macOS, Linux, phone | Windows program: 7 SP1 / 8 / 10, 64-bit, 4 GB RAM minimum |
| Price | Collection, search volumes, lexical clustering and export — $0; top-10 SERP snapshot — $0.005 per keyword; AI operations — $0.02 | 2,200 RUB for the first perpetual licence on 1 PC (individual), extra licences 1,300 to 1,700 RUB, company — 2,300 RUB |
| Subscription | None, pay per action from your balance | None, the licence is perpetual and updates are free |
| Keyword sources | Google, Bing, YouTube and DuckDuckGo autocomplete, Google Search Console, site pages, Keyword Planner ideas, AI, CSV import | Over 20 sources, including search engines, analytics systems and paid subscription services |
| Search volumes | Google Keyword Planner via the official API: 45 countries plus worldwide, no Google Ads account of your own | Since 2022 the developer does not guarantee collecting statistics directly from services; official third-party integrations work |
| Yandex and Wordstat | No | Yes (via statistics collection features and integrations) |
| Clustering | Lexical for free; SERP-based (hard/soft) from SERP snapshots | Automatic and manual, group analysis, tags, implicit duplicates |
| Working with structure | Groups, negative keywords, page-to-keyword map | Group tree, structure editor, colour marking, filter presets |
| Export | CSV and XLSX for free | Reports and exports, project sharing with colleagues |
Pay attention to two rows. The first is price: a one-off 2,200 RUB for a program people have used since 2010 is cheap, and we won't pretend the cloud is "cheaper than the licence". The second is search volumes: this is Key Collector's main problem right now, and it is the most common reason people look for a replacement.
Why people look for a Key Collector alternative
- Statistics collection is no longer guaranteed. In March 2022 the developer stated openly that, for technical reasons, it cannot guarantee stable operation of the features that collect statistics directly from services, and that support for these issues runs in a limited mode. Official integrations with third-party collection services remain.
- No Windows machine. Minimum requirements are Windows 7 SP1, 8 or 10 (64-bit) and .NET Framework 4.8. There is no official version for Mac or Linux.
- A Google market. Key Collector has historically been strongest paired with Yandex. If your clients are in Ukraine, Poland or Kazakhstan, you don't need most of the Yandex features, and configuring the rest takes time.
- Maintenance. A desktop program needs a computer that runs the collection and attention to data sources. A cloud service collects keywords on its own server, so you can close the tab.
Where an online Key Collector alternative is genuinely more convenient
Runs in the browser on any computer
Keyword Studio is a cloud tool. You enter a site URL or seed keywords, collection runs on our server, and you open the results from Windows, a Mac or your phone. All you need is a free PromoPilot account (sign in with Google or email, no card).
Keyword Planner data via the official API
For each keyword, Keyword Studio requests from Google Ads Keyword Planner the average monthly searches over 12 months (as a single rounded number, the way Google returns it), monthly history, competition and the bid range. You don't need your own ad account with billing. 45 countries plus "worldwide" and 29 languages are available. The limit is up to 20 volume requests per day per user, each with up to 1,000 keywords. It's free.
Autocomplete from four search engines, Search Console and site pages
Keywords come from Google, Bing, YouTube and DuckDuckGo autocomplete, from your Google Search Console (real queries with impressions), from your own or a competitor's pages, from Keyword Planner ideas, AI suggestions and a CSV file. No proxies, search engine accounts or captcha solvers to configure.
Free by words, paid by SERP
Lexical clustering (by word stems, with stemmers for Russian, Ukrainian, English, Polish and other languages), negative keywords and CSV or XLSX export are free. SERP-based clustering (hard and soft) is built from top-10 SERP snapshots: $0.005 per keyword. One snapshot gives you both keyword difficulty and SERP features. Snapshots are cached for 14 days, and reusing the cache is free for everyone. You see and confirm the price before anything is charged.
From keyword list to rank tracking and promotion
Keywords go to Rank Tracker in one click, and you can boost the page you need with a link cascade from the same balance. The cascade is a separate prepaid service; only live, verified links count towards the order.
Where Key Collector is stronger and you shouldn't switch
This section matters more than the previous one. If you recognise yourself in at least two of these points, stay with Key Collector and use the cloud as an add-on.
What a keyword list costs: an example with 5,000 keywords
Take a typical task: an online store in Ukraine needs a list of 5,000 keywords with Google volumes, mapped to pages.
| Step | Keyword Studio | Key Collector |
|---|---|---|
| Software | $0, free account | 2,200 RUB one-off, a Windows computer |
| Collecting keywords from autocomplete and Search Console | $0 | Included in the program; stable collection directly from services is not guaranteed |
| Google volumes for Ukraine | $0: 5 requests of 1,000 keywords | Via a source you choose or a third-party integration |
| Lexical grouping, negative keywords, XLSX | $0 | Included in the program |
| SERP-based clustering and difficulty | 5,000 × $0.005 = $25 | Via connected services, at their prices |
We deliberately don't count proxy and third-party service costs for Key Collector: they depend on exactly what you connect, and we haven't checked those services' prices. The honest conclusion: the Key Collector program itself is cheap, while most of the cost and time goes into data sources. In Keyword Studio, Google volumes are free, and you only pay for SERP data if you need it.
Using both: collect in the cloud, structure in Key Collector
If you already own a Key Collector licence, you don't have to choose. Key Collector can import keywords from files, and Keyword Studio exports them with volumes for free.
Collect keywords and volumes
Create a project in Keyword Studio and set the site, country and language. Add autocomplete, Search Console and Keyword Planner ideas, then request volumes.
Clean up and group
Set negative keywords and run the free lexical clustering. If you need to map keywords to pages precisely, buy SERP snapshots only for the disputed groups, not for the whole list.
Export and refine
Export XLSX or CSV and import it into Key Collector if you are used to building the structure in its editor. The final keywords can go back into Rank Tracker for position tracking.
Which tool fits whom
| Your situation | Best option | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Ranking in Yandex, need Wordstat volumes | Key Collector | Keyword Studio has no Yandex |
| Google markets: Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Poland, EU, US | Keyword Studio | Free Keyword Planner volumes, no Ads account of your own, no collection setup |
| You work on a Mac or across several devices | Keyword Studio | Cloud, nothing to install |
| Lists of hundreds of thousands of keywords with manual cleanup | Key Collector | Structure editor, marking, filters, local work without server limits |
| You already own a Key Collector licence | Both | Collection and Google volumes in the cloud, structure in Key Collector |
| You need every query a competitor ranks for | Serpstat, SE Ranking, Semrush | That's a job for a subscription database, not a keyword collector |

Frequently asked questions
Is there a Key Collector online version?
No. Key Collector is a Windows program: the official requirements call for 64-bit Windows 7 SP1, 8 or 10. Online alternatives run in the browser: for example, PromoPilot's Keyword Studio collects keywords and Google volumes on its own server, while Serpstat and SE Ranking offer their own keyword databases on a subscription.
How much does Key Collector cost in 2026?
According to the official website as of October 2026, the first licence costs 2,200 RUB for an individual and 2,300 RUB for a company. Extra licences cost 1,300 to 1,700 RUB. The licence is perpetual, for one computer, with no subscription fee, and updates and support are free.
Does Key Collector work on a Mac?
The official system requirements list only Windows. On a Mac people run it in a Windows virtual machine or use a cloud service that works in the browser on any system.
Does Keyword Studio have Wordstat and Yandex?
No. Keyword Studio works with Google: volumes come from Google Keyword Planner, and autocomplete from Google, Bing, YouTube and DuckDuckGo. Google Ads does not return data for Russia and Belarus, so for a Yandex keyword list it is better to stay with Key Collector.
Why did Key Collector stop collecting search volumes?
In March 2022 the developer announced that, for technical reasons, it could no longer guarantee stable operation of the features that collect statistics directly from services, and that support for these issues became limited. Official integrations with third-party statistics services remain in place.
Can I use a Key Collector alternative and Key Collector together?
Yes. Collect keywords and Google volumes in Keyword Studio, export them to XLSX or CSV for free and import them into Key Collector if you are used to building the keyword structure in its editor. This is handy when you have already bought the licence.
