Tokens: What They Are Charged For and Where to See Them
Tokens are an internal unit of accounting used by the platform to calculate the cost of checks in Rank Tracker and SEO Audit. One unit is equal to one cent. There is no need to purchase tokens separately anymore: paid operations are deducted from the overall dollar balance of the account, and the term "tokens" in the interface refers only to the reserve of free checks, which is used up before any money.
How Deductions Work
Each account has two counters. The first is a small free reserve, which is credited once upon the first visit to Rank Tracker or SEO Audit. The second is the regular balance that you top up. For any paid operation, the free reserve is used first, and only when it is exhausted does the deduction come from the balance. The user sees dollars and the remaining free checks, not the number of tokens.
Deductions occur based on the fact of a successful result. An unsuccessful position check — for example, if the results could not be retrieved — is recorded as an error and does not cost any money.
What Is Charged For
| Operation | How It Is Counted |
|---|---|
| Position Check | One check is one keyword in one region on one device. The depth of results affects the cost: top-100 is more expensive than top-30 |
| Express Site Check | Free, with a daily limit on launches and a restriction on the number of pages |
| Full Audit | Fixed price based on the size of the site, deducted in advance; the unused part is returned to the balance after the crawl |
| Recheck of One Page | A symbolic amount for a successful recheck |
| Security Scan | Quick scan — free with a daily limit, deep modes — from the balance |
| Promotion | From the same balance, according to the launch rate — see rates and prices |
The exact amounts are set in the platform settings and may change, so the current rate is always shown in the account: in the Rank Tracker tariff card and in the confirmation window before starting the audit. Refer to the numbers from there, not to articles and landing pages.
Where to See the Balance
- Rank Tracker Header. The "Balance" banner in dollars and the green "Free" banner — it appears only while the reserve is not exhausted.
- SEO Audit Header. The same: balance and mark of the free limit.
- Rank Tracker Dashboard. The amount on the balance and a recalculation of "approximately this many checks," separately — how many of them are free.
- Balance Section in the Account. A unified history of deductions and top-ups across all services — more details in the article about balance and top-up.
If Funds Are Insufficient
The platform does not start work that it cannot pay for. A position check will return a message about insufficient funds, a full audit will not start, and a crawl that runs out of money during the process stops gracefully and is marked with the status "Insufficient Funds" — the data already collected is saved. To avoid manual stops, auto-replenishment can be enabled in the balance section with a saved card.
Common Misconceptions
- "Tokens need to be purchased separately." No. There is no longer a token wallet, purchase and conversion have been removed, there is one account — the dollar one.
- "Pro subscription gives tokens." No. Pro removes limits on free tools and unlocks Pro features, but does not affect the cost of checks and audits — see subscription description.
- "A position check is one line in the keyword list." One check is counted for the combination of "keyword + region + device": three regions for one keyword means three checks.
