Keyword Studio: Online Keyword Collection and Clustering

Rank Tracker, Audit and Shield 4 min read Updated 22.10.2026
Keyword Studio collects keywords from autocomplete and Search Console, adds Google Keyword Planner volumes, groups them into clusters and exports to CSV or XLSX. It is free; only operations that use Google results snapshots are paid.

Keyword Studio is PromoPilot’s cloud tool for building a keyword list in the browser. You enter a site address or a few seed phrases, and the service collects keywords from search engine autocomplete, Search Console and the site’s pages, adds volumes from Google Keyword Planner, groups the phrases into clusters and exports the result to CSV or XLSX. It is free for registered users; only operations that use Google results snapshots and AI are paid, and nothing is charged until you confirm the price.

What Keyword Studio does

  • Collects keywords. Autocomplete from Google, Bing, YouTube and DuckDuckGo for your seeds (A–Z, questions, modifiers); keywords from a site’s pages (up to 50 pages from the sitemap), yours or a competitor’s; queries from your Google Search Console if connected; Google Ads ideas (up to 20 seeds for up to 1,000 ideas); CSV import.
  • Shows search volumes. Average monthly searches, a monthly trend of up to 24 months, CPC and competition, taken from Google Ads Keyword Planner through the official API. You do not need an ad account of your own.
  • Cleans the list. Negative keywords, implicit duplicates, junk phrases, keep/exclude statuses, filters and bulk actions. A project holds up to 100,000 keywords.
  • Groups into clusters. Free by shared words with stemming (ru, uk, en, pl, de, es, fr), soft or hard; paid by Google results.
  • Gives recommendations. Quick wins in positions 4–20, cannibalization, content gaps and a prioritized plan; seasonality from Google Trends, Wikipedia and Search Console.
  • Exports. CSV and XLSX are free, and keywords can be sent to Rank Tracker to track positions.

How to use it

  1. Open Keyword Studio and sign in to your PromoPilot account.
  2. Enter a site address: the service finds its language versions and suggests a search region for each one. Every version becomes its own project. Or create a project by hand and add seed phrases.
  3. Start collection. It runs in the background, so you can close the tab.
  4. Request volumes, remove the noise with negative keywords and run the free clustering.
  5. Assign clusters to pages and export the list.

What it costs

OperationPrice
Projects, collection by URL, autocomplete, Search Console and CSVfree (autocomplete has a daily limit)
Keyword Planner volumesfree, up to 20 requests a day per user, up to 1,000 phrases each
Word-based clustering, negative keywords, recommendations, exportfree
Google top-10 results snapshot: keyword difficulty, SERP features, clustering by results$0.005 per keyword (1,000 phrases = $5)
AI operations (for example, a page brief)$0.02 per operation

Paid operations draw on your free quota first, if you have one, then on your balance. Before anything starts you see the price and confirm it, and a run cannot spend more than the confirmed amount. One results snapshot yields keyword difficulty, SERP features and the data for clustering at once. Snapshots are kept for 14 days, and reusing the cache is free for everyone. For the full list of what money is charged for, see “What Money Is Deducted For”.

How it differs from Key Collector

Key Collector is a Windows program with a perpetual licence (about $27 according to its website in October 2026). It is stronger exactly where Keyword Studio is weaker: Yandex and Wordstat, manual work on huge lists, a group tree and a structure editor. Keyword Studio works only with Google, in the browser on any system, with no proxies, captchas or data sources to set up. If you work for Yandex, stay with Key Collector; if you work for Google, the cloud covers most of the job. A detailed comparison is in Key Collector alternative online.

Limits

  • No Yandex and no Wordstat.
  • Google Ads returns no data for Russia and Belarus, so there are no volumes for those countries. 45 countries plus “Worldwide” are available.
  • Volumes are Keyword Planner’s own data, not an independent database. Very rare keywords (roughly 10 searches a month or fewer) come back without a number.
  • It is not a competitor database: it will not list every query of another domain the way Serpstat or Semrush do. A competitor’s keywords are taken from its pages.
  • Daily volume limit: 20 requests of up to 1,000 phrases per user.

A comparison with Keyword Planner itself and with free alternatives is on the Keyword Studio vs Google Keyword Planner page.

FAQ

Is Keyword Studio free?
For registered users, yes: collection, Keyword Planner volumes (within the daily limit), word-based clustering, recommendations and export are free. Google results snapshots ($0.005 per keyword) and AI operations ($0.02) are paid.
Do I need my own Google Ads account for volumes?
No. Keyword Planner data is requested through the platform. The limit is 20 requests a day per user, up to 1,000 phrases per request.
Does Keyword Studio work with Yandex and Wordstat?
No. It uses Google, Bing, YouTube and DuckDuckGo for autocomplete and Google Ads for volumes. For a Yandex keyword list, Key Collector is the better fit.
How does word-based clustering differ from clustering by results?
Word-based clustering groups phrases that share meaningful words (free). Clustering by results compares Google’s top 10: queries that share ranking URLs go into one cluster (paid, $0.005 per keyword).
