How to Check Our Work Independently

Straight answers 2 min read Updated 12.09.2026
A five-minute checklist without paid services: link presence, rel in developer tools, indexing, site profile, Search Console report, and page dynamics.

Don't take the report at face value — check it. Below is a five-minute checklist that doesn't require paid services: most checks are done with free platform tools and a regular browser.

1. The link exists

Open any publication address from the report. The page should contain your material and a link to your page with the specified anchor. If the link is missing, the publication should not have made it into the report: see how the check works.

2. Is the link dofollow or not

  1. Right-click on the link → “View code” (developer tools).
  2. Check the rel attribute of the highlighted <a> tag.
  3. Important: you need to check in the developer tools, not in the “Page source.” Some platforms change the rel attribute with a script after loading — details in the article on weight transfer.

3. The page is indexed

Insert the publication address into the free indexing checker or enter a search query like site:publication-address. Remember: a fresh publication does not get indexed immediately, and we show shares by levels openly.

4. What kind of site is it

Check the publication domain in any link service or through our tools: domain trust assessment and page link analysis. You should see a large public service with external content, not an empty site created for links.

5. The link reached Search Console

In Search Console, open the “Links” report → “External links.” Note the delay: new referring domains appear there after weeks, and Google does not show everything.

6. What happened to the page

Compare the position and impressions of the promoted page with neighboring pages of the same type that did not have launches. The dynamics for each link are collected in “Pulse”, and the report has a block “Search Result.”

What the check will not show
No external tool will show “how much weight the link passed” — such a metric does not exist for anyone, including us. The verifiable facts are: the link exists, the site is real, the page is indexed, the position has changed. Everything else is interpretation.

If something doesn't match

Contact support and attach the publication address and date. A discrepancy between the report and reality is a defect, not a “feature”: if the link has disappeared, the slot must be reallocated. The general algorithm for analysis is in the article “No Result: What to Check”.
