What is my IP address?

Your public IP address, ISP, ASN and approximate location — exactly as websites see you.

You connected over IPv4. Our site is also reachable over IPv6, so most likely your network has no IPv6 or your browser preferred IPv4. This page has no separate IPv6-only test.

IP location is your provider’s network point, not your address. The country is usually right, the city is often off (especially on mobile data), and a street or house cannot be found from an IP.

The network belongs to a hosting company or a VPN service rather than a home or mobile provider. Websites may show such addresses a CAPTCHA or limit access.

What is my IP address?

This page shows the public IP address websites see when you connect — IPv4 or IPv6 — along with your ISP, autonomous system number (ASN), approximate location and signs of a VPN or hosting network.

How to Use

  1. Open the page — your IP is detected automatically
  2. Click “Copy” to paste the address into settings or a support ticket
  3. Check the IP against blacklists or look up its ASN with the buttons below

Use Cases

  • Verify the public IP exposed after VPN or proxy changes.
  • Troubleshoot geolocation mismatches in ads and analytics.

Limitations

  • Shows public IP, not the local LAN address of your device.
  • Geolocation may vary depending on ISP database freshness.

FAQ

A local address (usually 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x) is assigned by your router inside your network and is invisible from outside. The public address comes from your ISP and is what every website sees. This page shows the public one; the local one is in your device or router network settings.

A browser connects to a site over one protocol. Our site supports both, so with working IPv6 you will usually see an IPv6 address, otherwise IPv4. You may have the other address too, but it is not used for this connection.

The country is usually right; the city is not always — the database knows where your provider connects its network, not where you sit. On mobile data the city is often wrong. A street address cannot be found from an IP; only your ISP knows it.

Most home and mobile connections have a dynamic address that changes after a router restart or over time. A fixed (static) IP is usually a separate service from your ISP. On mobile networks one address is often shared by many subscribers.

A VPN, proxy, Tor or iCloud Private Relay replaces the address websites see. To check it works, reload this page — the IP and provider should change. Restarting your router sometimes gives you a new dynamic address too.

Public vs local IP address

A device on the internet usually has two addresses. The local one is assigned by your router inside your home or office — 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x or 172.16–31.x.x. It is invisible from outside, and your neighbour may have exactly the same one. The public address comes from your ISP: every device on your network goes online through it, and that is what websites see. This page shows the public one.

To find your local address, check the device itself:

  • Windows: run ipconfig in Command Prompt and look for “IPv4 Address”.
  • macOS: System Settings → Network → your connection → Details, or ipconfig getifaddr en0 in Terminal.
  • Linux: ip addr.
  • Phone: open the details of the current network in Wi-Fi settings.

A browser connects to a site over one protocol at a time. Our site supports both, so if your IPv6 works you will most likely see an IPv6 address. That does not mean you have no IPv4 — it just was not used for this connection. IPv4-only websites see your IPv4 address.

What your IP address reveals

A public IP points to your ISP, its autonomous system number (ASN) and an approximate location. Geolocation databases know where your provider connects its network, so the country is usually right while the city can be off — especially on mobile data, where traffic often exits through a hub in another city. Your street, house or name cannot be looked up from an IP; only your ISP holds that.

For more about the network behind an address, use the ASN lookup; to look up any other address, try IP geolocation.

Dynamic IPs and CGNAT

Home connections usually get a dynamic address that changes after a router restart or over time. A fixed (static) IP is normally a separate service from your ISP — you need one for remote access to cameras, a NAS or your own server.

Compare the WAN address in your router settings with the one on this page. If they differ, or the router’s address starts with 100.64–100.127, you are behind CGNAT — an address shared by many customers. Port forwarding will not work until your ISP gives you a public IP. The port checker shows whether a port is reachable from outside.

VPNs, proxies and Private Relay

A VPN, proxy, Tor, iCloud Private Relay or Cloudflare WARP replaces the address websites see. To check that yours works, switch it on and reload this page — the IP, provider and possibly the country should change. If the “VPN, proxy or regular ISP?” block shows a hosting company, websites can notice that too and may show more CAPTCHAs.

If you get CAPTCHAs and blocks without a VPN, your address may be on a spam list — for example because of an infected device on your network or another customer sharing your CGNAT address. Check it in the IP blacklist checker.
